You can also compile locally for free using Poedit or msgfmt.
Install in WordPress
- 1Navigate to wp-content/languages/plugins/ (or /themes/)
- 2Upload the .po and .mo files
- 3Set the site language in WordPress Settings → General
Naming Convention
Files must follow the pattern: {text-domain}-{locale}.po — for example, my-plugin-de_DE.po.
⚠️Warning: Wrong File Name = WordPress Won't Load It
Make sure the file name matches your plugin's text-domain exactly.
